Women's Volleyball Bested By Spring Arbor in League Play

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) women's volleyball team was bested by visiting Spring Arbor University in a Crossroads League matchup on Saturday, October 25. 

SAU won the match by a final score of 3-0, with set scores of 25-11, 25-13, 25-16. 

Spring Arbor started the match strong, jumping out to an early 10-4 lead. SF tried to rally, but SAU's offense started the match strong, hitting .417 with 12 kills en route to a 25-11 set one win.

In set two, the momentum continued to be in favor of Spring Arbor as SAU went on a run to grab a 19-9 lead. Saint Francis was unable to slow Spring Arbor's attack as SAU took set two for the 2-0 lead in the match. 

In set three, Saint Francis fought back and tied the score at 10-10. Spring Arbor responded by retaking the lead and extending it to 15-11. The SF Cougars called a timeout to regroup, but SAU held on for the win, improving to 20-8 overall and 7-8 in league play.

The SF Cougars recorded 26 kills, with Annabelle Sweigert and Madison Dhoore leading the way with six kills each. Teigen Fortkamp finished with 24 assists and eight digs, while Hannah Sweeney had a team-high 18 digs. Kate McMullen added two block assists on Saturday. 

Up next, Saint Francis (4-23, 0-15 CL) will travel to Taylor University on October 29. In their first meeting of the season, the Trojans edged the Cougars 3-0.
