Cougars Unable to Chop down Foresters on the Road
HUNTINGTON, Ind. – The University of Saint francis (Ind.) women's soccer team traveled to Huntington, Indiana on Saturday afternoon for a Crossroads League match-up against the Huntington University Foresters. The Cougars fell short of League points, falling to the Foresters 1-0.
The Cougars and the Foresters entered into the half scoreless, even though USF outshot the Foresters 7-1 in half one. The Foresters had a much needed reset at the half to where they were able to come out with a different second half approach, as the Cougars dominated on all fronts in the first half. The deciding factor of the match came in the 59th-minute where HU's Sophie Shepherd was able to sneak one past USF's Amber Morgan. Amber Morgan encountered 5 total shots in the match, making 2 saves as the other shots were off target. Carlee Biddle and Ava Slater were a force to be reckoned with out of the midfield and up top as the two combined for 5 shots out of USF's 7.
The Cougars are now 3-7-2 overall and 0-3 in Crossroads League Play. USF will have a week off before their next match where they will travel to Mishawaka, Indiana. Saint Francis will compete at Morey Field to take on the Bethel University Pilots (Ind.) on Saturday, October 7th for a 6pm kick-off.
