FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The women's soccer team played host to the Siena Heights University Saints for the first home opener of the 2023 Fall season at Bishop John M. D'Arcy Stadium. The Lady Cougars fell to a strong Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference side, 0-2, starting the season off on the back foot.
USF fired two shots on net out of their six, coming from Holly Thomas & Nikki Laidley, compared to the Saints 22 shots, with 9 on frame. Amber Morgan tallied 7 saves in her 90 minute cap for the Cougars.
The Cougars were able to hold the Saints off with a 0-1 advantage until the final 2 minutes of regulation play, where SHU's Gia Diaz was able to put the game to rest in the 87th minute.
Tonight's result has the Lady Cougars entering into their Sunday match-up with Purdue Fort Wayne at 0-1. USF will travel down the street to play at Hefner Field for a non-contest exhibition against the D1 Horizon League Mastodons. Kick-off is set for 1pm eastern time.
