Lady Cougs Rake the Maple Leafs
GOSHEN, Ind. – The Lady Cougs jumped back into the winning column with their defeat over the Goshen Maple Leafs. USF jumped out to a quick start and rode the momentum through to a final of 74-65.
The Lady Cougars outscored the Maple Leafs for two out of the four quarters of the game. USF trailed in the first quarter 17-20, shooting 46% from the field and 50% from 3-point range. The Lady Cougs were outrebounded and gave up several offensive boards providing second chance scoring opportunities for Goshen.
Second quarter USF picked up the tempo grabbing some additional offensive boards and running the floor to create more scoring opportunities. This momentum from the second quarter carried the Lady Cougs through both the 3rd and 4th quarters to crumple the Maple Leafs.
Overall the Lady Cougs shot 44% from the field and 45% from 3-point range. Chloe McKnight was second overall in scoring for both sides tallying 21 points and also adding 4 rebounds and an assist.
Key contributors to the Lady Cougars win included Cassidy Crawford tabbing another double-double to the season with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Reganne Pate and Emily Parrett also had a combined 23 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 steals.
The Lady Cougars are now 10-13 overall and 6-7 in conference. The Lady Cougars will travel to Spring Arbor, Michigan February 4th, to face-off with the Spring Arbor Cougars. Tip-off is set for 1pm at the McDonald Athletic Center. The last match-up with the SAU Cougars ended in a victory for the USF Lady Cougars 67-57 back in December.
