Lady Cougs drop in a Valiant effort against No. 6 Ranked Marian

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Saint Francis Lady Cougars dropped their top 10 match-up with No. 6-ranked Marian University Wednesday night with a final of 56-65. The Lady Cougs were tied with the Knights at half, but were unable to rally in the second half.

The Lady Cougars gave up 16-points in turnovers that Marian capitalized on. The largest lead that USF had came in the 1st quarter by 6-points with 07:50 remaining on the game clock. Marian's largest lead of the game was by 13-points in the 3rd quarter, but the Cougars were able to cut this deficit down. USF shot 42% from the field and 94% from the foul line.

Key contributors to the valiant effort put forth by the Lady Cougars included Emily Parrett (20points) leading overall scoring for the Cougs & Cassidy Crawford who dished in an additional 16 points. Julia Mantyla along with Reganne Pate also contributed 8-points each and a combined 2-blocks, 2-steals, and 3-rebounds.

The Lady Cougars are now 9-9 overall and 5-3 in conference. The Lady Cougars will travel to Marion, Indiana January 14th, where they'll take on No. 12-ranked Indiana Wesleyan University. Tip-off is set for 1pm with the USF & IWU Men's basketball teams to follow shortly after.
