Result Holds to Qualify for CL Tourney
MOUNT VERNON, Ohio -- The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) men's soccer team traveled to Mt. Vernon, Ohio for their final regular season match-up with the Mount Vernon Nazarene University Cougars. The two sides tied 1-1, qualifying the USF Cougars for the CL Tourney with a 7th place finish overall and an 8th place finish for MVNU (Ohio). USF will prepare to play the Bethel (Ind.) University Pilots this Saturday (11/4) for a 5pm kick-off in Mishawaka, Indiana.
Guilherme Girotto Franco opened up the scoring for the Cougars, finishing in the 58th minute with a solo effort to put USF ahead 1-0. MVNU (Ohio) was resilient in their deficit, as they came back to score in the 78th minute for the deadlock. As a team, USF was outshot from MVNU (Ohio) 19-15. Jannik Reiss recorded another 90-minute performance in net, making 7 saves on 8 shots faced, allowing 1 goal. Tom Hollman, Alessandro Florencia, Fabio Leschinsky, and Franco all contributed to the teams 9 shots on frame.
USF will travel to Mishawaka, Indiana this Saturday to take on the Bethel University (Ind.) Pilots in the first round of the Crossroads League Tournament. The last time these two sides met was at Bishop D'Arcy on October 7th, where the two sides tied 1-1. Kick-off is set for 5pm at Morey Field.
