Cougars Edged in Road Matchup at Taylor
UPLAND, Ind. - The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) men's basketball team fell 93-83 to Taylor University in a midweek Crossroads League matchup on Wednesday, February 11.
Taylor set the tone early, building an advantage in the opening minutes. Saint Francis responded late in the first half, trimming the deficit, but the Trojans carried a 44-40 lead into halftime.
The Cougars fought hard in the second half, but Taylor kept its offensive momentum and extended its lead down the stretch. The Trojans hung on for the 93-83 win to improve their record to 10-5 in league play.
Saint Francis shot 50% (31-of-62) from the field and scored 44 points in the paint. Karson Rogers led the Cougars with a double-double, finishing with 25 points and 13 rebounds while adding two steals and two blocks. Jevon Lewis recorded 17 points and nine assists to go along with three steals, and Marr Avance chipped in 15 points.
Up next, the Cougars (9-16, 4-11 CL) will host Marian University as part of the league-wide Jesus Won Day on Saturday, February 14. In their first meeting this season, the Cougars defeated the Knights 88-74.
