Saint Francis Battles to Overtime, Falls 80–78 to (RV) Huntington

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) men's basketball team battled to the final horn but came up just short in an 80–78 overtime loss to (RV) Huntington University on Wednesday, January 14.

The Cougars showed great fight after trailing at halftime, outscoring Huntington 32–26 in the second half to force overtime. Both teams traded baskets in the extra period, but Huntington was able to edge ahead and hold on for the two-point victory.

The Cougars shot 44.8% (30-67) from the field and 37.5% (9-24) from three-point range, and went a solid 9-for-11 from the free throw line. Saint Francis was led by a strong offensive night from Marr Avance, who poured in 24 points on an efficient 10-of-14 shooting, including 4-of-5 from three-point range. Avance also pulled down six rebounds and came away with three steals. Karson Rogers finished with 24 points and six rebounds. Jevon Lewis chipped in 11 points and 4 assists, while Malachi King added 11 points off the bench.

Up next, Saint Francis men's basketball (7-10, 2-6 CL) hits the road this Saturday to take on Spring Arbor University. Tipoff between SF and SAU is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
