Cougars Tip Off New Year with 105–84 Win at Goshen

GOSHEN, Ind. – The Saint Francis men's basketball team opened the new year with its first Crossroads League win, defeating Goshen College 105–84 on Saturday, December 3.

The Cougars set the tone early, outscoring the Maple Leafs 51-35 in the first half of action. Saint Francis followed with a 54-point second half to secure the commanding 105-84 win. Saint Francis shared the ball effectively and attacked consistently, finishing with 20 assists and forcing Goshen into 13 turnovers.

Saint Francis shot 54.4% (37-68) from the field while controlling the glass throughout the game, outrebounding Goshen 48–33. Marr Avance led SF with a strong all-around effort, pouring in 25 points while adding eight assists and nine rebounds. Karson Rogers recorded a double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Jevon Lewis chipped in 17 points and five assists, while Braeden Messenger added 17 points, seven rebounds, and three steals off the bench.

SF moves to 6-8 overall and 1-4 in league play. Up next, Saint Francis returns to action on Wednesday, January 7, hosting Taylor University at the Hutzell Athletic Center for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff.
