FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) men's basketball team fell short against No. 4 Grace College by a final score of 109–76 inside the Hutzell Athletic Center on Saturday, November 22.
After Grace pulled ahead 21-14 at the 12:27 mark of the first half, the Cougars responded with a 10-2 run to take a narrow lead at 25-23. The Lancers tied the game up at 25-25 as the two teams battled in the first half. Grace was able to hang onto a narrow 48-41 lead going into halftime.
Grace's efficiency and depth took over in the second half as the Lancers shot 52% from the field and piled up 68 points in the paint. Despite the effort, Saint Francis struggled to match Grace's size and transition attack as the Lancers recorded 29 fast-break points and won the rebounding battle to help secure the 109-76 win to improve to 7-0 overall and 2-0 in league play.
Offensively, Saint Francis shot 34.2% (25-73) from the field and 27.3% (9-33) from three-point range, with SF's bench contributing 38 points. Jevon Lewis led the Cougars with 30 points on 10-of-21 shooting, including five made threes. Lewis also dished out a team-high four assists. Karson Rogers recorded a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Joe Reidy added nine points and seven boards.
Up next, Saint Francis men's basketball (3-6, 0-2 CL) will travel to Marion to face No. 1 Indiana Wesleyan University on Wednesday, December 3, in Crossroads League action.
