Cougs Finish Season with Loss in CL Quarterfinals to #2 IWU

MARION, IN. -- The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) Cougars opened up Crossroads League tournament action against the 2nd ranked Indiana Wesleyan Wildcats. The Cougars traveled to Marion, Indiana trying to make a statement as they near the end of the season, but fell to the Wildcats 93-74.

IWU proved to the Cougars how much of a threat they were as they were ranked one of the top seeds in the Crossroads. IWU increased their lead to 10 on a Caedmon Bontrager 2 pt. bucket at the 6:30-minute mark. USF couldn't quite regain their traction as the Wildcats spread the ball around on offense and never let up. IWU shot 55.2% from field-goal range. USF small forward, Charlie Yoder, led the scoring for USF scoring 23 points and 5 boards going 11-11 from the FT line.

The Cougars had four total guys scoring in double-digits as Branden Northern and Isaiah Malone both scored 14 points. Dorean Sanders was a spark off the bench scoring 11 points going 3-4 from three-point range. USF shot 40% from the three-point range. IWU led the game for 35:10 during the game and the largest lead got to 20 points. IWU had a balanced scoring attack with Javan Buchanan and Caedmon Bontrager leading the way with 21 and 23 points respectively. Bontrager played 27 minutes off the bench for IWU.
