USF Drops CL Series against the Foresters at Home

FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) Cougars went into the match-up Saturday afternoon trying to add to their winning streak. The Cougars needed this win to solidify a spot for the NAIA National Tournament & Crossroads League Tournament as well. USF took on the Huntington University Foresters at the Hutzell Athletic Center & fell to 12-10 overall and 5-7 in the conference. USF dropped the contest with a final score of 94-85 in their second straight loss to the Foresters, taking the series 0-2.

USF started the game with loads of energy, tying at the 7-minute mark to a score of 24-24. The first half remained tight for USF as they were down five at the half (46-41). The second half was similar until around the 3-minute mark when Huntington took control, with an 82-74 lead. USF guard Charlie Yoder led in scoring for USF with 22-points going 7-for-8 from the field. Zane Burke also contributed 16-points & played all 40 minutes of the contest. USF freshman big man, Isaiah Malone, added 9 points and 10 boards, but unfortunately fouled out with under five minutes to play. Luke Almodovar returned to play for the Cougars, chipping in 23-points, 2 blocks, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists off the bench.

The Cougars will be back in action on WednesdayFebruary 7th for Crossroads League play on the road. USF will battle the Bethel University (Ind.) Pilots at 7:30 PM as they look for a revenge game as Bethel won the last match-up, 96-88.
