Cougars Compete at National Catholic Championship

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The University of Saint Francis cross country teams traveled to South Bend to compete in the National Catholic Championship hosted by the University of Notre Dame on Friday, September 19.

The Cougars raced in a competitive field, outrunning No. 22  University of Saint Francis (Ill.) and finishing just 14 points behind Mount Mercy University for eighth place overall.

Freshman Andrea Pfau led Saint Francis, crossing the finish line in a time of 18:59.2. Lauren Moore followed with a time of 20:25.1, while Linda Koech finished for SF next at 20:34.0. Gloria Wafula closely followed with a time of 20:35.6.

"Both men's and women's programs ran well, given the scorching temperatures, said head coach Brendon Moody. "We know the times are not indicative of the current fitness, and both teams raced well over the later parts of the race."

Up next, Saint Francis will hit the road to compete at Live at Louisville on October 4.
