SF Drops Road Match to No. 13 MVNU

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) women's volleyball team hit the road for a Crossroads League matchup at No. 13 Mount Vernon Nazarene on Wednesday, October 1. 

MVNU won the match 3-0, with set scores of 25-8, 25-17, 25-11. 

Mount Vernon Nazarene's offense started the match strong, hitting .438 in the first set as MVNU grabbed the early lead in the match. 

After Mount Vernon Nazarene grabbed a 17-10 lead in set two, the SF Cougars rallied to cut the deficit to four, with the score at 19-14. MVNU held off SF to escape with set two by a final score of 25-17. 

MVNU's strong offensive performance continued as Mount Vernon Nazarene sealed the 3-0 in the match with a 25-11 set three win.

The SF Cougars were led by Kayla Gumbel with five kills. Teigen Fortkamp finished with 11 assists and an ace, while Hannah Sweeney ended the night with 10 digs. Madison Dhoore and Claire Foulk both contributed two block assists as Saint Francis recorded eight total block assists against MVNU. 

Up next, Saint Francis volleyball (4-17, 0-9 CL) will return to action on Wednesday, October 8, against (RV) Huntington University.
