FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) women's volleyball team returned to their home court for the third annual Onset Invitational on Friday, August 23. 

The Cougars played two matches on Friday, the first against Xavier University of Louisiana at 11:00 a.m. and the second against Fisk University at 7:00 p.m.

XAVIER 3, SAINT FRANCIS 0 (25, 19, 25-22, 25-17)

The Cougars dropped their opening match of the 2024 Onset Invitational against the Golf Nuggets of Xavier (La.) 3-0. USF and Xavier battled back-and-forth in the first two sets, 

As a team, the Cougars collected 25 kills, with Teigen Fortkamp leading the way with seven kills. Paige Fortkamp followed with six kills of her own, while Alexa Sparks led with 14 assists and Hannah Sweeney had a team-high nine digs. 

Up next, Saint Francis volleyball will compete in two matches on Saturday, August 24 to close out the Onset Invitational. The Cougars' first match will be at 1:15 p.m. against Indiana Southeast, followed by a 7:00 p.m. matchup against Defiance College.
