Cougars Fall to the RV Pilots of Bethel (Ind.)
FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) women's volleyball team played host to the RV Bethel University (Ind.) Pilots Wednesday night in Hutzell Athletic Center. The Cougars fell to the Pilots in 3 sets with set scores of 25-23, 25-18, & 25-20.
Saint Francis kept things tight in the first set, looking to sneak out to a 1-0 lead, but were unable to excute in the final few points due to service and attack errors. Paige Fortkamp led for the Cougars with 9 kills at the net and she also contributed 7 assists, & 4 digs. Addison Shafer was right behind Forkamp with 8 kills and 3 digs to contribute tot he Cougar effort. Alexis Gregory led in the back court with 12 digs and Hannah Sweeney contributed 6 digs of her own.
The Cougars will return to action this weekend, leaving for La Crosse Wisconsin tomorrow afternoon for matches on Friday 7 Saturday. The 3-match weekend will all be non0conference and USF will compete with Trinity Christian (10|13), St. Francis (Ill.) (10|14), & #5-Ranked Viterbo University (10|14). Match times will be at 4pm, 10am, & 12pm for the V-Hawk Classic Weekend. USF is now 6-16 overall and 2-10 in Crossroads League play.
