Cougars Open Outdoor Season at Falcon Classic and Multi
MONTEVALLO, Ala. - The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) track and field teams kicked off the outdoor season at the Falcon Classic and Multi, hosted by the University of Montevallo on Friday, March 14. The Cougars highlighted their outdoor opener with multiple new top-10 marks and top-five finishes.
Hannah Boersema bested the competition, bringing home first in the javelin with a mark of 39.70m (130' 3")
Kiara Bahena took second place in the 1,500m with a time of 4:58.84. The sophomore also brought home a third-place finish in the 800m after crossing the finish line in 2:21.20.
Mariah Maley competed in the 400m hurdles, finishing in third place at 1:07.99.
Rileigh Baumer set two new USF top-10 times in the 1,500m and the 800m. In the 1,500m, the freshman finished in fifth place with a time of 5:05.13 and in the 800m, Baumer finished in sixth place with a time of 2:25.38.
Malena Ricks set a new all-time top-10 mark in the javelin with a distance of 31.10m (102'), while Gwen Jakway finished with the seventh-best mark in school history in the hammer throw with a mark of 38.26m (125' 6").
Next up, the Cougars will compete at the Blizzard Buster, hosted by Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, on March 22.
