Cougars Set Multiple School Records at Crossroads League Championships
MARION, Ind. - The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) concluded the indoor season at the Crossroads League Indoor Track and Field Championships on February 20-21.
As a team, the Cougars finished seventh overall. Four school records and multiple additions to the Saint Francis top-10 list highlighted the weekend.
Arina Taylor broke two school records at this year's championships. She placed eighth in the 60m with a record time of 7.97 before finishing sixth in the 200m with another program-best mark of 26.07. Taylor also added a top-10 finish in the long jump with a mark of 4.81m (15' 9.5").
Kiara Bahena broke the Saint Francis record in the 800m with an NAIA A standard time of 2:15.82, earning a third-place podium finish.
Hannah Boersema set a new school record in the shot put with a throw of 12.69m (41' 7.75") to place fifth. She also finished ninth in the high jump at 1.46m (4' 9.5") and sixth in the pentathlon with 2,575 points.
The distance medley relay team of Victoria Clibon, Lauren Moore, Kiara Bahena and Andrea Pfau earned third place with an NAIA B standard time of 12:31.56.
Moore also added a fourth-place finish in the 1,000m, posting the fifth-fastest time in program history at 3:04.67.
The 4x400m relay team of Rileigh Baumer, Bahena, Moore and Lillian Brumbaugh clocked the third-fastest time in school history (4:13.42) to finish sixth. Baumer also recorded a Saint Francis top-10 time in the 600m (1:42.81).
In distance events, Marissa Goodwin posted a top-10 program time in the 5,000m at 19:12.52, while Danielle Lesser recorded the eighth-fastest time in school history in the same event at 19:17.88. Pfau added a sixth-place finish in the 3,000m with a time of 10:33.40.
The 4x800m relay team of Lindy Wood, Gloria Wafula, Haile Schiffeneder and Ella Schmidt also earned a top-10 finish at the championships, clocking 10:38.71.
Up next, SF's National Qualifiers will prepare for the NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships in Gainesville, Florida, from March 5-7.
