Lady Cougs fall 0-7 to WHAC Opponent Lourdes
MAUMEE, Ohio-- The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) Women's Tennis team continued their tough Spring 2023 season with a 7-0 loss to Lourdes University on March 26th at Shadow Valley TC in Maumee, Ohio. The Lady Cougars faced a tough opponent in Lourdes, who were able to secure all seven matches.
In the singles competition, Mallory Schardt from Lourdes defeated Jessica Henline from USF 6-2, 6-0. Cleo Moore from Lourdes also had a strong performance, winning her match against Alyssa Ciocca from USF 6-0, 6-2. Bella Chela from Lourdes beat Sophia Vandegriff from USF 6-1, 6-4, while Olivia Schoppa from Lourdes defeated Elizabeth Gomez from USF 6-0, 6-3. Laura Ortiz from Lourdes won her match against Danielle Smith from USF 6-3, 6-1. Vanessa Skouroukos from Lourdes won her match by default, as no player from USF was able to compete.
In the doubles competition, Cleo Moore and Mallory Schardt from Lourdes defeated Alyssa Ciocca and Jessica Henline from USF 7-5. Elizabeth Gomez and Sophia Vandegriff from USF were able to secure a win in their doubles match against Laura Ortiz and Olivia Schoppa from Lourdes with a score of 6-2. The third doubles match was won by Lourdes by default, as no players from USF were available to compete.
Despite their efforts, the Lady Cougars from the University of Saint Francis (Ind.) were unable to secure a win, bringing their Spring 2023 season record to 0-6. The team's final game will be on April 4th at Manchester University with a 3PM start time at the MU Tennis Courts. The Lady Cougars will be looking to end their season on a positive note and secure their first win of the season.
