Lady Cougs Struggle at Ackerman-Allen ahead of Final Outing at Brookwood
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- The Women's golf team competed on Tuesday Ackerman-Allen Shootout hosted by Taylor University. Overall the team struggled to hit the numbers they were aspiring for, but are using this Open as a stepping stone in the right direction to fully compete at a high level in the Fall 2023 Season.
USF played 36 holes on Tuesday and quite frankly struggled. The Cougars finished in last place of the 7 team field. Team scores were 345 and 349, which is way too high for a successful outing. Head Coach Corey Potts stated, "Ball striking was not there, nor was our short game. We look forward to hosting Grace and Mount Vernon on Monday and Tuesday at our home course (Brookwood Golf Club)."
The Lady Cougars will tee off at 12PM on Monday (4/24) and Tuesday (4/25) of next week. The goal for the Cougs is to get some confidence back heading into conference as this will be thier last tournament of the regular season.
Highlights from Ackerman-Allen included Senior Amara Ecker leading the way with scores of 87 and 84. Freshman Abby Pequignot finished 2nd on the team with scores of 87 and 86. Bridget Marshall shot 86 and 89, Ava Warren shot 85 and 91, & Melissa Francis shot 90 and 90.
