Francis leads the Lady Cougs through Extreme Weather at Purgatory Intercollegiate

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. -- The women's golf team traveled down to Noblesville on Friday to compete in the Purgatory Intercollegiate hosted by Taylor University. The weather was wet and windy causing a delay in our start time. It's been a while since we have played in wind that strong and the girls did a good job navigating the wind.

Melissa Francis in just her second tournament back from knee surgery lead the way with a great score of 80 in round one where she was in a T-4th. As a team, we were in 6th place out of 9 team in round 1.

Round 2 never started because of the extreme wind conditions. We were looking forward to improving our position in round 2, but Mother Nature wouldn't allow. I was really proud of the girls for their play on Friday. We struggled on the down hill down wind putts and had way too many 3 putts but overall they played great, especially considering the conditions!

The girls have a couple weeks off before their next event down at Purdues Ackerman-Allen golf course on April 17th.
