Indiana Cougars "Out Coug" the Ohio Cougars of MVNU

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio -- The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) women's basketball team traveled to Mount Vernon, Ohio to take on the MVNU (Ohio) Cougars for a Wednesday evening Crossroads League match-up. The Indiana Cougars emerged victorious on the road with a 57-53 final. 

USF outscored MVNU in the first and fourth quarters, but were deadlocked in the second quarter and fell short in the third. USF had a 5-point lead at the half and trailed going into the fourth quarter, 42-36.

Chloe McKnight led in overall scoring for the Cougs with 15-points and 2 rebounds. Ally Madden also contributed heavily off the bench chipping in 14-points & 12 rebounds, recording her first double-double of the season. Taylor Fordyce was crucial on defense, tallying 8 defensive rebounds and 3 offensive rebounds while adding in 8-points and 2 steals. Isabella Gizzi went 5-for-6 at the free throw line and tallied 9 rebounds and 9-points, just shy of the double-double. 

As a team, USF shot 33.9% from the field, 16.7% from 3-point range, & 66.7% from the foul line. USF also out-rebounded MVNU 47:41 and only had 4 turnovers opposed to MVNU's 7. Overall, the Cougars are now 10-5 and 3-3 in Crossroads League play. USF will return home this Saturday in Hutzell Athletic Center for another Crossroads League match-up. USF will play host to the Marian University Knights for a 1pm tip-off.
