Transitional play along with Cassidy Crawford's double-double allowed the Lady Cougs to keep the game close in the first half. Second half turnovers and missed opportunities in the paint led to the defeat for the Cougars against a strong IWU side. The Wildcats now improved to 10-1 in the Crossroads and the Lady Cougs fell to 5-6.
Key contributors to the effort for USF included Julia Mantyla with 18 points and 4 rebounds. Chloe McKnight and Emily Parrett also had a combined 18 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists.
The Lady Cougars are now 9-12 overall and 5-6 in conference. The Lady Cougars will return to Hutzell Athletic Center Wednesday January 23rd, to host the Mount Vernon Nazarene Cougars. Tip-off is set for 7pm in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The last match-up with the MVNU Lady Cougars ended in a 65-69 loss for the University of St. Francis.
