Cougars Defeated Indiana University South Bend 6-1
Indiana University South Bend opened the scoring in the fourth after Leah Dawson singled, scoring one run. USF took the lead in the top of the sixth inning after Anna Smith singled, Madyson Minnich walked, Brooklyn McCord singled, Sam Baker walked, and Lena Viggiano grounded out, each scoring one run.
Elle Sauder pitched three and two-thirds innings in relief for USF. They surrendered two hits and zero runs while, striking out one and walking one. Kennedy Baioni opened the game for the Cougars. The righty allowed three hits and one run over three and one-third innings, striking out two and walking two. Savannah Hamilton opened the game for Indiana University South Bend. They surrendered five hits and three runs (two earned) over five innings, striking out one and walking three.
Smith, Dani Karr, and McCord each collected two hits for USF. Smith led the Cougs with two runs batted in. They went 2-for-4 on the day. Minnich paced USF with three walks. Baker With 3 Hits to Help USF Beat Fitchburg State Falcons
Sam Baker collected three hits in three at bats, as USF defeated Fitchburg State Falcons 8-2 on Monday. Baker hit an inside the park home run in the first inning, doubled in the third inning, and singled in the second inning.The Cougs got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Baker's inside the park homer, Macie Dowd doubled, and Bree Miller doubled, each scoring one run.
USF added one run in the second after Lena Viggiano grounded out. The Cougars extended their early lead with two runs in the bottom of the third thanks to RBI doubles by Ashlynn Allman and Baker. Mia Werner earned the win for the Cougs. The right-handed pitcher surrendered four hits and one run over three and one-third innings, striking out two and walking one.
Kenzie Leveille took the loss for Fitchburg State Falcons. The starting pitcher went three innings, allowing six runs on nine hits, striking out none and walking two. Lex Huth pitched one inning of scoreless ball in relief. The reliever gave up zero hits, striking out three and walking none. Viggiano collected two hits for USF in four at bats. The Cougs had patience at the plate, amassing five walks for the game and ran wild on the base paths, piling up three stolen bases for the game.
Molly Grass led Fitchburg State Falcons with two hits in three at bats. Leveille went 1-for-2 at the plate as they led the team with one run batted in.
