USF drops to No. 20-Ranked MVNU Cougars

MOUNT VERNON, OH. – The University of Saint Francis Softball team traveled to Mount Vernon, Ohio to compete against the No. 20-Ranked Mount Vernon Nazarene University Cougars at Cougar Softball Field, Tuesday afternoon in a doubleheader. The Lady Cougars lost Game 1, 11-3 in 5 innings and lost Game 2, 7-2.
In Game 1, Kenzie Rust gained the start on the mound striking out 1 batter and giving up 12 hits. The Lady Cougars gained the lead early in the game with Tori Miller doubling allowing Macie Dowd to score in the 1st inning. In the 3rd inning, the Lady Cougars attempted to come back with Tori Miller reaching on a fielder's choice allowing Macie Dowd to advance to second and Aubrey Dunnuck advancing home. In the 4th inning, Aubrey Dunnuck advanced to first on an error by 2nd base and Abi Erwin scored.
Brooklyn McCord went 2:2 from the plate, with Macie Dowd, Dani Karr, and Tori Miller all going 1:2 from the plate with Tori Miller also having 2 RBI's.
In Game 2, Mia Werner earned her start on the mound, striking out 2 batters and giving up 10 hits. In the 1st inning, Tori Miller doubled, allowing Aubrey Dunnuck to score. In the 3rd inning, the USF Cougars continued to bring the heat with Tori Miller singling and Aubrey Dunnuck scoring yet again. Tori Miller went 2:2 from the plate tallying the only 2 hits with 2 RBI's.
The Cougars are now 12-20 overall & 6-16 in the Crossroads League. USF will be traveling for their next doubleheader to compete on the road against Taylor University. The Cougars will play Taylor Wednesday (Today, April 19th) with 4pm & 6pm start times. The Taylor University Trojans are currently 18-20 overall and 10-14 in the Crossroads League and on a two game winning streak.
