Two Records Fall in Cougars’ Strong Showing at Larry Wieczorek Invitational
IOWA CITY, Iowa - The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) men's and women's track and field teams competed against a strong field at the Larry Wieczorek Invitational, hosted by the University of Iowa on January 23–24.
The Cougars wrapped up competition in Iowa with two new school records and multiple top-10 performances.
Drew Boggs set a new Saint Francis school record in the high jump, clearing 1.98 meters to surpass the previous mark he set earlier this season.
The 4x400m relay team of Quinn Clayton, Benjamin Marano, Abdallah Ahmed, and Vincent Purcell posted a time of 3:24.36, breaking the Saint Francis school record by more than two seconds.
Freshman Emmanuel Langat recorded two top-10 finishes over the weekend. He clocked an 8:38.51 in the 3,000m run to rank second all-time at Saint Francis, then followed with the second-fastest mile in program history at 4:18.76.
Zane Strydom also earned two top-10 marks in the 3,000m and mile. The freshman ran an 8:42.64 in the 3,000m to place third all-time before recording the third-fastest mile in school history at 4:21.81.
Taylor Stubbins rounded out the weekend by cracking the Saint Francis top-10 in the mile, finishing in 4:27.32 for the fourth-fastest time in program history.
Up next, the Cougars will compete at the Joe Banks Invitational hosted by Ohio Northern University on January 30.
