Saint Francis Battles in 5-2 Loss to Spring Arbor
FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) hosted Spring Arbor University for a Crossroads League match at Wildwood Racquet Club on Friday, March 20. The Cougars battled but fell short by a final score of 5-2.
The No. 3 doubles team of Hugo Gonzalez Cabanas and Gerard Cuixart picked up the lone doubles win for Saint Francis with a 6-3 victory. The Cougars competed closely at the other two doubles positions but fell 6-4 in both matches.
In singles play, Saint Francis continued to battle across the lineup, earning wins at No. 4 and No. 5. At No. 4, Hugo Gonzalez Cabanas secured a straight-set victory, 6-1, 6-3. At No. 5, Alvaro Adrio won in a third-set tiebreak after splitting the first two sets, 4-6, 6-3. The Cougars also pushed Spring Arbor to third-set tiebreaks at the No. 1, No. 3 and No. 6 positions but were unable to come away with additional wins.
Up next, the Cougars (5-2, 0-2 CL) will host No. 12 Huntington University at Wildwood Racquet Club on Wednesday, March 25. First serve is set for 1:00 p.m.
