FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The University of Saint Francis men's soccer team closed non-conference play on Saturday, September 20, with a 4–1 loss to Olivet Nazarene University at Bishop D'Arcy Stadium.
The Cougars struck first in the 11th minute when Joshua Jelany found the back of the net unassisted to put Saint Francis up 1–0. The Tigers (6-2-1) responded quickly and controlled much of the match from there. Olivet Nazarene equalized in the 25th minute through Stanley Hooker, then pulled ahead in the second half with three unanswered goals by Daniel Martinez (54'), Kingsley Kanu (88'), and Atjon Thaqi (90').
Olivet outshot USF 18–4, forcing Cougar goalkeeper Kevin Wachiaya Onelius into seven saves across 90 minutes. Jelany's strike was one of just two shots on goal for Saint Francis.
The Cougars (2-7-1) now turn their attention to conference play, opening the Crossroads League slate on Wednesday night at Grace College. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. in Winona Lake, Ind.
