Cougars Tripped Up at Holy Cross

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) men's soccer team traveled to Holy Cross College for a non-conference game against the Saints on Tuesday, September 16. 

After a hard-fought 89 minutes, Holy Cross's Nathan Sanchez scored the lone goal of the match to give the Saints the 1-0 lead. The Cougars were unable to find the equalizer as time ran out in Tuesday night's matchup. Holy Cross escaped with the 1-0 win to improve to 3-3-0 on the season.

Saint Francis created chances throughout the match, outshooting their opponent 17-13, with seven of those shots landing on goal. Ryusei Matsushita took a team-high four shots, while Joshua Jelany added three shots against the Saints. SF goalkeeper Kevin Wachiaya Onelius played all 90 minutes in frame, making four total saves. 

Up next, Saint Francis men's soccer (2-5-1) will conclude its non-conference slate with a home match against Olivet Nazarene University on Saturday, September 20. Match time is set for 6:00 p.m. at Bishop John M. D'Arcy Stadium.
