Cougars Down Pomeroys 4-2

ST. MARY'S, Ind. - University of Saint Francis (Ind.) men's soccer picked up a 4-2 road victory over St. Mary-Woods (2-6-0) on Saturday afternoon, snapping a two-match winless streak behind a balanced offensive effort. 

Saint Francis jumped out to a 2-0 halftime lead after goals fromRyusei Matsushita in the 15th minute and Abdul Manaf Annorin the 39th minute. Leo Tuelpanov assisted on the Cougars' second goal.

After halftime, SF extended its advantage when Joshua Jelanyscored unassisted in the 52nd minute. The Pomeroys clawed back into the match with goals fromAndoni Ybanezin the 55th minute andJamachi Obiukwuin the 71st, cutting the margin to 3-2. SF secured the win in the 77th minute when Nicolás Balbinnetted an unassisted strike to push the lead back to two goals. 

Saint Francis finished with a 13-9 advantage in shots and earned seven corner kicks to St. Mary-Woods' five. Cougars' goalkeeper Kevin Wachiaya Onelius made four saves to preserve the victory. 

Up next, Saint Francis men's soccer (2-4-1, 0-0 CL) will head to Notre Dame, Ind., to play Holy Cross College on Tuesday, September 16.
