Saint Francis Drops Road Match to Huntington

HUNTINGTON, Ind. – The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) men's soccer team fell short in a hard-fought road match against Huntington University, dropping the match by a final score of 1-0 on Wednesday, October 2.

Both the Cougars and Foresters battled through a scoreless first half, combining for seven shots and six corner kicks, with USF leading in both categories. Huntington broke the scoreless tie in the 50th minute of action to take the lead. The Cougars would create chances, firing off seven shots in the second half, but were unable to find the back of the net as the Foresters would go on to win the match 1-0.

As a team, USF outshot Huntington 11-7 and led in corner kicks with eight. Mika Leib and Unax Mendia each had a shot on goal on Wednesday night. Jannik Reiss played all 90 minutes in goal for USF, collecting five saves. 

Up next, USF men's soccer (6-5-1, 0-2-1) will face the Bethel Pilots in a road match on Saturday, October 5. Game time is slated for 5:00 p.m. in Mishawaka, Ind.
