FORT WAYNE, Ind. – On Wednesday evening the University of Saint Francis Cougars (7-5-2; 0-4-1 Crossroads) traveled to Spring Arbor, Michigan to take on the Spring Arbor University Cougars (4-3-6; 1-0-4 Crossroads) and fought back to earn a 1-1 tie.

As the game got started in the first half, Spring Arbor began to maintain consistent control of the ball while the Cougars had to make several blocks on defense in the opening minutes.

Spring Arbor managed five shots before prevailing in the 32^nd minute with the game's first goal sneaking past junior goalkeeper Davide Perrone. Arbor managed a couple of more shots in the final minutes of the frame but to no avail as the game went to halftime with Saint Francis trailing 1-0.

Entering the second half a couple of more shots by Spring Arbor were blocked and saved, and then the Cougars had a chance on offense. Saint Francis managed four shots in the first 20 minutes of the frame, but Spring Arbor's goalkeeper stepped up and kept the Cougars off the scoreboard.

The Cougars then really started pressing in the final 15 minutes of play, getting two more shots on goal despite both being saved. But then in the 79^th minute, their persistence paid off as junior midfielder Bryan Ramirez knocked in the game-tying goal to make it 1-1.

Both teams managed a couple of more shots in the final minutes before the clock expired and the Cougars earned the tie.

Throughout the game Perrone stepped up to make four saves against just one goal allowed while Saint Francis managed six shots on goal with Ramirez the lone goal scorer.

The Cougars resume play on Saturday evening when they return home to Bishop D'Arcy Stadium to take on the Mount Vernon Nazarene University Cougars (5-3-4; 0-1-3 Crossroads) beginning at 7:00 pm.
