SF Men's Basketball Sweeps Marian in Regular Season Play

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) Cougars defeated the Marian University Knights for the second time this season with a final score of 95-87 during league-wide Jesus Won Day on Saturday, February 14. 

Saint Francis came out sharp offensively, shooting 62.5% in the first half to build a 51-46 lead at the break. The Cougars continued their efficient play in the second half, scoring 44 points while maintaining their lead throughout to secure the 95-87 victory. With the win, SF improved to 5-11 in Crossroads League action, while Marian fell to 2-14 in league play. 

The Cougars finished the game with a 59.3 (35-59) field goal percentage and a 41.2(7-17) three-point shooting percentage. Saint Francis controlled the paint, outscoring Marian 50-18 inside while also converting Marian's nine turnovers into 18 points. Karson Rogers led the way with a career-high 40 points, shooting 13-14 from the floor and 13-15 from the free-throw line. Rogers also pulled down 11 rebounds and had a block against the Knights. Jevon Lewis added 20 points and three steals, while Marr Avance chipped in 20 points and four assists to give the Cougars three players in double figures.

The Cougars (10-15, 5-11 CL) will travel to (RV) Huntington University on Wednesday, February 18. The Foresters defeated the Cougars 80-78 in their first matchup of the season.
