USF Topples Goshen 103-83

GOSHEN, Ind. - The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) men's basketball team broke 100 points as the Cougars defeated the Goshen Maple Leafs by a final score of 103-83 on Saturday, November 23.

Saint Francis opened Saturday's game with an 8-2 run in the first three minutes of action. The Cougars grabbed an 18-point lead with 8:36 left to play in the first half. USF extended their lead to 51-27 at the 3:21 mark and would outscore Goshen 55-35 going into halftime. 

USF pulled ahead 60-35 to begin the second half of Saturday afternoon's game. A bucket from Keshawn McNeill gave the Cougars 100 points as the score was 100-70 with just under five minutes left in the second half. USF would go on to win Saturday's matchup by a final score of 103-83 to improve to 2-0 in Crossroads League play. 

As a team, USF shot 51.2% (41-80) from the field and 35% (7-20) from three-point range. Saint Francis also outrebounded the Maple Leafs 50-31 while dominating the paint by outscoring Goshen 60-34. The Cougars were lead by sophomore Isaiah Malone with 22 points and 15 rebounds for his second double-double of the season. Malone also had four blocks and three assists in 22 minutes of play on Saturday. Zane Burke shot 6-8 from the field and 4-4 from the free throw line en route to 19 points. Jackson Gowdy came off the bench, playing 17 minutes and scoring 19 points with seven rebounds. Luke Almodovar added 15 points, while Robert Fry II finished with 10 points. Branden Northern and Burke both had five assists against the Maple Leafs. 

Up next, USF men's basketball (9-1, 2-0) will host the Foresters of Huntington University on December 4.
