Cougars Down No. 25 Warriors 85-64

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) men's basketball team earned an 85-64 victory over the No. 25 Indiana Tech Warriors in the Cougars' home opener on Saturday, November 16. 

After winning the tip, the Cougars drained a three-pointer in the corner just six seconds into the game. A dunk from Isaiah Malone put USF up 31-22 with just under five minutes left to play in the first half. Saint Francis would outscore Indiana Tech 43-30 in the first half for a 13-point lead. 

Two free throws from Luke Almodovar gave the Cougars their biggest lead of the afternoon with the score at 82-55 with 3:39 on the clock in the second half of action. USF held off the Warriors for Saturday's 85-64 upset win.

Saint Francis shot 37.1% (26-70) from the field and outrebounded Indiana Tech 43-38. The Cougars were led by sophomore Almodovar and junior Branden Northern with 20 points each on Saturday. Northern also pulled down eight rebounds and dished out six assists. Malone added 18 points, seven rebounds and three blocks against the Warriors. Joe Reidy had a team-high 10 rebounds while contributing five points and a steal. 

Up next, USF men's basketball (7-1) will host Taylor University in the Cougars' Crossroads League opener on November 20. Tipoff is set for 7:20 p.m. in the Hutzell Athletic Center.
