Hard Fought Battle Ends In A Loss On Senior Day
FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- The University of Saint Francis (Ind.)
Cougars were looking to knock off one of the top teams in a
Crossroads League showdown. The Cougars battled strong the
whole game and never seemed to let up. USF took on the Indiana
Wesleyan Wildcats at Hutzell Athletic Center in a key Crossroads
League matchup. Overall, the Cougars are now 12-12 and 5-9 in the conference. They fell short in the contest with a final score of 82-77.
USF and IWU were close all first half with a score in favor of the
Wildcats 42-37. The Cougars took the lead with 8 minutes to go and
then it went back and forth the rest of the game. IWU took the lead
with 12 seconds to go to seal the deal. USF freshman guard, Luke
Almodovar, led the team in scoring with 27 points going 10-15 from
the field. Zane Burke added 17 points playing 38 minutes. IWU had
a balanced scoring attack with four of their starters scoring double
digits. Javan Buchanan scored 16 pulling down 11 rebounds. Nathan
Childress added 11 going 5-10 from the field. The Wildcats had 27
points off the bench going 47% from the 3 point line.
The Cougars will take on Mt. Vernon Nazarene for Crossroads
League play next Wednesday, February 14. USF will battle Mt.
Vernon at 7:00 PM as they look to get back in the win column
nearing the end of conference season.
