Cougars Fall to the Trojans in Hutzell to Split the Series

FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) Cougars were looking to sweep the Taylor University Trojans in a Crossroads League showdown. The Cougars were without three starters in Joe Reidy, Luke Almodovar, and Aaron Etherington. USF took on the Trojans at Hutzell Athletic Center in a vital Crossroads League match-up. Overall, the Cougars are now 11-9 and 4-6 in the conference. They fell short in the contest with a final score of 100-74.

USF and TU were close all first half with a score in favor of the Trojans 45-42. The Trojans came into the second half with intent to take over. At the 14-minute mark in the second half, Taylor increased their lead to a score of 65-52. USF shooting guard, Zane Burke, led the team in scoring with 20 points going 7-for-9 from the field. Taylor had a trio scoring attack with three of their starters scoring double digits. Kaden Fuhrmann led Taylor with 30 points. Jackson Ullom added 21 points with 4 assists. The Trojans shot 63% from 3-pt. range. For USF, Charlie Yoder added 18 points and 8 rebounds.

The Cougars will take on Goshen College for Crossroads League play next Wednesday, January 31st. USF will battle the Goshen College Maple Leaf's at 7:30 PM as they look to get back in the win column on the road.
