Cougars Outmatched by Titans, despite 2nd Half Come-Back
FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) men's basketball team played host to the Indiana University South Bend Titans this afternoon at Hutzell Athletic Center. To the Cougars dismay, a slow first half was too much to overcome in the second half where they fell to the Titans with a 92-80 final.
The Cougars trailed by as many as 21 points in the first half, but Freshman Luke Almodovar came out of the half hot, carrying the team to within a few possessions. Almodovar led in overall scoring for the Cougars with 21 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal. Dorean Sanders also contributed hugely off the bench for USF with 8 much needed points that aided towards the momentum shift int he second half. Charlie Yoder also had his fair share in scoring tallying 15 points and 4 offensive boards that led to second chance points for USF.
Zane Burke and Aaron Etherington also combined for 23 points, 12 rebounds, & 3 assists. As a team, USF shot 45.9% from the field and 32.1% from 3-point range. USF will look to rest within the next week, now on a two game losing streak and sitting 2-2 overall. The Cougars will resume play again Thursday November 9th where they'll travel to take on East-West University. USF will have a 2-game weekend for the Marian Classic where they'll play East-West with a 6pm tip-off on Thursday and again on Friday November 10th for a 5:30pm tip-off against Cumberland University (Tenn.).
