Cougars Outlast the Tigers & Raiders for 2-0 start

COLUMBIA, Kentucky -- The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) men's basketball team traveled down to Kentucky over the weekend for two non-conference games at Biggers Sports Center. USF emerged victorious in both games to jump start their season. The Cougars won the first game against the Campbellsville Tigers with a 81-77 final on Friday and then won game two Saturday against the Lindsey Wilson Blue Raiders 97-87.

Charlie Yoder led for the Cougars in game one with 25 points and 9 rebounds. Zane Burke and Branden Northern also contributed to the scoring in double figures with a combined effort of 31 points. USF shot 45.3% from the field, 33.3% from 3-point range, and 81.8% at the line. 

In Game two, the Cougars trailed at the half, but then had an explosive second half that propelled them over the Blue Raiders. Branden Northern, Charlie Yoder, and Zane Burke all were in double digit scoring with Yoder tallying the first double-double of the season. Northern finished the game with 25 points, 4 assists, and 4 steals & Burke also added in 21 points, 6 rebounds, and was shooting 50% from the field. Yoder capped game two off with the double double tallying 11 rebounds and 23 points. 

The Cougars are now 2-0 on the season and will return home to Hutzell this week for their home opener on Wednesday. USF will play host to the Governors State Jaguars for a 7pm tip-off. The Jaguars are 1-1 after hosting the Governors State Classic over the weekend falling to IU Kokomo and defeating East-West University.
