Crossroads League Tournament ends in the Quarterfinal for the Cougars
WINONA LAKE, Ind. – The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) Men's Basketball team traveled to Winona Lake, Indiana to take on the No. 4-Ranked Grace College Lancers Wednesday night for a Crossroads League Quarter Final match-up. Unfortunately for the Cougars, their entry into the Crossroads League Tournament was not as hasty as their exit. The Cougars fell to the CL No. 1 seed, 91-60.
The first half deficit was too much for the Cougars to overcome as they trailed by as much as 22-points and were 13:30 from the field & 3:11 from 3-point range. The Cougars were able to cut down the Lancer lead to only 13 at the half trailing into the second 30-43.
The second half was no different than the first as the Cougars could not keep up with the Lancer fast break or the Gibbs brothers. USF shot 10:34 from the field in the second half and were 1:9 from 3-point range.
Overall, USF shot 35.9% from the field & 20% from 3-point range. The Cougars shot well from the foul line going 11:14 (78.6%). Antwaan Cushingberry scored 24 points and added 3 assists. Other Cougars in double-digit scoring came from Dan McKeeman scoring 13 points and grabbing 3 rebounds and Beau Jacquay contributed 10 points & 7 rebounds.
The Cougars will return next season for their 2023-24 tenure. Cougar fans stay updated with all events and recaps with USF Athletics by visiting saintfranciscougars.com or by downloading the Saint Francis Cougars app.
