Men’s Hoops defends Hutzell Crunching the Maple Leafs

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – USF Men's Hoops defended Hutzell Athletic Center Wednesday night against the Male Leaf's of Goshen College. Transitional play and running the court worked in the Cougars advantage finishing with a final of 97-62.

First half statistics occurred due to multiple turnovers in transition and fast-break scenarios. Every entry from the bench for the Cougars contributed to the overall score in the first half alone. As a team, the Cougars shot 43% from 3-point range and 57% from the field. Dan McKeeman led the first half scoring for both sides tallying 16 points shooting 4:5 from 3-point range.

Evan Lowden got the work done offensively for the Cougars in the first half due to second chance opportunities from outrebounding the Maple Leafs. Lowden left the half with 6 rebounds and 2 points. Branden Northern tallied 3 steals in the half as well.

The second half for the Cougars did not play out any differently than the first. The Cougars took advantage of their halftime lead and included every able-bodied athlete on the roster to contribute to the team win.

Antwaan Cushingberry and Brandon Northern also contributed 13 points each and had a combined 5 steals and 5 assists. Brayton Bailey contributed 12 points and 4 assists and Beau Jacquay came off the bench to relinquish two well-desreved slams.  Evan Lowden finished with a double-double tallying 10 points and 13 rebounds.
