Saint Francis Earns Pair of Wins at Inaugural Cougar Classic

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) women's flag football team hosted the inaugural Cougar Classic on March 20-21. 

The Cougars started the day with a 39-28 win over (RV) Graceland University before defeating (RV) Midland University 42-19 in their afternoon matchup. 

SAINT FRANCIS 39, GRACELAND 28

  • The Cougars totaled 402 yards of offense. Jianna Reyes completed 24-of-34 passes for 384 yards and two touchdowns, while adding 18 rushing yards and two touchdowns on the ground. Harmany Walker caught seven passes for 69 yards and two touchdowns, and Haylee Weatherspoon added seven receptions for 113 yards and two touchdowns.
  • Defensively, Saint Francis recorded 36 flag pulls and nine pass breakups. Ava Cousins led the way with nine flag pulls and three breakups. Weatherspoon finished with seven tackles and an interception, while Peyton Pries also recorded an interception. Nami Singer added two sacks for a total loss of 18 yards.

SAINT FRANCIS 42, MIDLAND 19

  • The Cougars recorded 320 total yards of offense against the Warriors. Reyes went 26-of-34 passing for 260 yards and three touchdowns, while rushing for 69 yards and a score. Weatherspoon led the receivers with 10 catches for 129 yards and two touchdowns. Nina Kamma-Hill added five receptions for 37 yards and a touchdown.
  • Defensively, Saint Francis totaled 29 flag pulls and five interceptions. Pries led the team with six tackles. Walker, Weatherspoon, Saniyah Freeman and Zayjona Pelt each recorded an interception, while Da'Kyla Hall added three sacks.

Up next, the Cougars (5-4) will compete at the Flag Frenzy, hosted by Campbellsville University, on March 27-28.
