Eight Cougars Honored as All-MSFA Mideast League Team Announces Season Awards
FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The University of Saint Francis athletic department is proud to announce that eight members of the Saint Francis Cougars football team have been recognized as the All-MSFA Mideast League Team has announced the season awards.
- Senior running back Cam Peterson
- Junior offensive lineman Jared Almeida
- Junior defensive end AJ Moore
- Junior linebacker Nate Talhelm
- Senior defensive back Damon Hunter
- Senior kicker/punter Jack James
- Junior wide receiver Eli Patchett
- Senior defensive end Joey Schaufelberger
Peterson, Almeida, Moore, Talhelm, and Hunter were all recognized as members of the Mideast League Second Team while James, Patchett, and Schaufelberger were honorable mentions.
Some of the biggest performances of the season for the Cougars came in their final home game on October 29 against the tough Taylor Trojans when their defense allowed just six points to their potent offense in route to a 44-6 victory at Bishop D'Arcy Stadium.
Peterson ignited the Cougars offense the entire season rushing for 747 total yards while scoring six rushing touchdowns. The senior stud also managed 202 yards receiving with three receiving touchdowns.
On defense, AJ Moore led the Cougars in sacks with 5.5 totaling 48 TFL yards, while Schaufelberger was not far behind with four sacks and a TFL of 21. Damon Hunter had a couple of interceptions and totaled 20 tackles while Nate Talhelm led the Cougars by a long shot in tackles over the season with 57.
