BELLVILLE, Ill. – Now the University of Saint Francis football team can really focus on the NAIA Football Championship Series.
The sixth-ranked Cougars finished their 15^th regular season on a summer-like afternoon in southwestern Illinois with a 44-7 win over Lindenwood-Belleville to finish 8-2. LUB finished 4-6 in its first season.
USF will find out its first-round NAIA FCS opponent on Sunday around 4 p.m.
USF sophomore running back Antoin Campbell rushed for 128 yards on 23 carries including touchdowns of 8-yards and 1-yard. Starting USF quarterback David Yoder threw a pair of TD passes, both to Colin Harruff, and finished 16-for-30 passing for 144 yards.
“I thought overall it was a pretty solid effort because this waskind of a trap game,” USF Head Coach Kevin Donley said. “We had a lot of guys step up today, especially in the second half. We challenged them at halftime to come out and play with great intensity, and for the most part, we did. And we got a lot of guys some valuable playing time in the second half.”
Defensively, Keith Lewis stepped in for an injured Taylor Brown and had two fumble recoveries and an interception.
