Cougars Come Up Short Against Crusaders

LIVONIA, Mich. - The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) Cougar baseball fell on the road to the Madonna University Crusaders baseball by a final score of 12–1 on Tuesday, April 7.

Madonna jumped out early to take control of Tuesday's game, scoring five runs in the second inning to make it a 5-0 game. Saint Francis drove in a run in the top of the fourth, but the Crusaders added four more in the bottom half of the inning and three in the fifth to extend the lead to 12–1.

The Cougars were limited to two hits with six walks against the Crusaders. Cole Kintz and Aslan Nolan each had a hit, while Kintz also had an RBI. 

On the mound, Jacob Bardwell got the start on the mound, throwing 1.1 innings with three strikeouts. Ryne Thornton and Matthew Roettger combined for four strikeouts and two hits in 4.1 innings of relief. 

Saint Francis (12-.25, 10-14 CL) will look to get back in the win column as the Cougars return to action on April 10 with a home league doubleheader against Spring Arbor University starting at 1:00 p.m.
