SF Completes Weekend at Texas Roadhouse Red River Classic
PINEVILLE, La. - The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) baseball team continued play in the Texas Roadhouse Red River Classic on February 14-15, facing No. 7 Loyola University New Orleans, Louisiana State University of Alexandria and Louisiana Christian University.
Saint Francis opened Saturday with an 11-0 loss to Loyola New Orleans (11-2) before falling short against LSU Alexandria (11-5) 19-13. The Cougars rounded out their trip against Louisiana Christian (15-2) on Sunday, with SF dropping the game 6-2.
#7 LOYOLA NEW ORLEANS 11, SAINT FRANCIS 0 (7 INNINGS)
- Loyola New Orleans struck early with a six-run first inning.
- The Wolf Pack tacked on five more runs in the third and fifth innings en route to the 11-0 win.
- The Cougars were limited to two hits on the day, with Ashten Tuttle and AJ Patton each recording singles.
- Perry Stow got the start on the mound, tossing 2.1 innings. Carson Hunter, Brock Bowser, and Luke Wessell put together solid relief outings, combining for a pair of strikeouts with no runs scored.
LSU ALEXANDRIA 19, SAINT FRANCIS 13
- The Cougars scored four runs in the first inning of Saturday's second game. LSU Alexandria plated a run in the bottom half of the inning to make the score 4-1.
- Both teams were able to score in the second inning, bringing the score to 7-6 in favor of the Generals.
- An RBI double from SF in the top of the third inning tied the score up at 7-7. LSU Alexandria responded in the bottom half of the inning, scoring three more runs to retake the lead.
- The Generals' offense continued to bring in runs in the sixth inning, giving LSU Alexandria a 13-7 advantage.
- The Cougars put together a big seventh inning to tie the game at 13-13 after bringing in six runs in the top half of the inning.
- LSU Alexandria answered by scoring six runs in the seventh and eighth innings while holding SF scoreless to secure the 19-13 victory.
- Saint Francis finished with 11 hits and eight walks. Xavier Nolan went 2-4 at the plate with a double and an RBI. Kasen Oribello added three hits and two RBIs. AJ Patton and Ayden Lichtensteiger each drove in runs, while Jordan Davis finished with two doubles.
- Luke Siren threw 2.0 innings as the Cougars' starter on the mound, striking out six batters and giving up one earned run. Bryce Adams took the loss after giving up four runs in an inning of relief.
LOUISIANA CHRISTIAN 6, SAINT FRANCIS 2
- The Wildcats scored first in Sunday's game, putting Louisiana Christian ahead 1-0 after the first inning.
- Saint Francis scored the equalizer in the top of the fifth inning before taking the lead with an RBI single back to the pitcher in the sixth inning.
- Louisiana Christian used a big seventh inning to pull ahead and win the game.
- Saint Francis finished with 5 hits and 2 runs, with RBIs coming from Cole Kintz and Aslan Nolan. Xavier Nolan, Tuttle, Aslan Nolan and Kintzeach collected multiple hits against the Wildcats.
- On the mound, Jayden Nuber delivered a strong start, going 5 innings while allowing just one run and striking out five. The game turned late as Louisiana Christian scored five runs in the 7th inning to break it open.
Up next, Saint Francis (1-7) will travel to Tennessee for four games on February 20-21, including games against Bryan College and Brewton-Parker Christian University from Georgia.
