Five Cougars Tabbed to Crossroads League All-Conference Teams
JACKSON, Mich. - The University of Saint Francis (Ind). Women's Softball team had a number of individuals honored by the Crossroads League Conference as the Conference announced its 2023 Softball Season Honors following the Crossroads League Tournament this past week.
The All-Crossroads League honors were voted on by the head softball coaches from around the league. Two of the USF Cougs found themselves on the First Team All Conference Team, two were named to the 2nd Team All Crossroads League Team, & one on the Honorable Mention Team.
Tori Miller, a Senior Catcher from Decatur, Indiana, had a standout season and found herself on the First Team All CL Team. Miller also broke the single season homerun record at the University of Saint Francis (Ind.) with 13HR's and was batting .356 this season. Miller played in 46 games and tallied 41 RBI's and 22 runs for the Cougs. Tori had 153 plate appearances and recorded 1 triple and 9 doubles as well and was walked 17 times. Her on base percentage was .428 and she finished with a .735 slugging percentage.
Macie Dowd, a Freshman 1st Basemen from Yorktown, Indiana also found herself on the First Team All CL Team with Miller. Dowd had an astounding Freshman season and was one of the key players for USF. Dowd appeared in 47 games and had 170 plate appearances. She tallied 5 home runs, 23 RBI's, 11 doubles, 2 triples, and 151 at bat attempts. Dowd finished the season off with a .377 batting average, 8 stolen bases, .447 on base percentage, and a .576 slugging percentage. She also completed a few relief attempts on the mound for the Cougars.
Mackenzie Rust, a Junior Pitcher from Leo, Indiana, was named to the All Crossroads League 2nd Team. Rust appeared in 37 games, starting 23 of them, and going. 500 in wins and losses with 12 a-piece. She also picked up 2 saves and pitched 171.2 total innings, recording a 3.38 ERA. Rust had 107 strikeouts on the season and had 1 shutout, 19 complete games, and averaged 4.36 strikeouts a game. Her fielding percentage was .906 and she faced 713 batters in her 37 games.
Aubrey Dunnuck, a Senior Center Fielder from Ossian, Indiana also found her name on the All Crossroads League 2nd Team. Dunnuck played in 47 games and led USF in stolen bases with 37. Her batting average was .323 and she also tallied 10 home runs, 34 RBI's, & 41 runs from her 165 plate appearances. Dunnuck recorded 40 hits, which resulted in 7 doubles, & 1 triple.She was walked 23 times and hit by a pitch 13 times and tallied 4 sacrifice hits for the Cougs. Her on base percentage was .472 & her slugging percentage was . 637 overall. Her fielding percentage was also extremely high at .974.
Paiton Iliff rounds out the Honors for the Cougars as she was named to the Honorable Mention Team for the Crossroads League. Iliff is a Freshman Catcher & 3rd Basemen from Indianapolis, Indiana. Iliff played in 46 games and finished off the season with a .309 batting average also slamming 10 home runs. She recorded 26 RBI's and tallied 11 stolen bases with a .936 fielding average percentage. She had 175 plate appearances and 149 at bats for USF and recorded 46 hits and 36 runs. Iliff's on base percentage was .388 and her slugging percentage for the Cougs was .577 as well.
The Cougars placed 6th overall in the CL Conference and will be back to prep for the 2024 Softball season in the Fall.
