SPRING ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Saint Francis senior Mary Whisler scored her 10th goal of the season, but Spring Arbor University denied the Lady Cougars' bid for win No. 11 with a 4-1 win on Wednesday afternoon.
Heidi Sharp and Megan Cogan scored to give SAU a 2-0 lead, but Whisler scored at 32:41 slashing the SAU Cougars lead in half. It was Whisler's 34th career goal.
But Taylor George and Christian Riske added goals in the second half for SAU to lock up its 11th win in 16 matches. SAU is 6-0 in Mid-Central College Conference play.
USF slipped to 10-5-1 overall and 3-3 in MCC competition.
Ashley Holt had four saves in 52-plus minutes in goal for USF. Kari Baughn yielded two goals in 33-plus minutes for USF. SAU finished with eight shots-on-goal, USF four SOG.
USF plays host to Taylor University on Saturday Oct. 25 at 1:30 p.m. TU can secure fourth place with a win while USF must beat Taylor and win at Bethel on Oct. 28 to grab fourth place and an MCC Tournament first-round game on Nov. 1.
