Coaching Staff

Christy Young

Head Women's Soccer Coach

Christy Young is a Fort Wayne native, graduating from Northrop High School in 1999 with All-State status and experience as a senior, taking her team to the state tournament—the first for a Fort Wayne Community School team.  Moving on to Division I DePaul University in Chicago, Il., she compiled an impressive career.  Young was a four-year starter and left the school ranked No. 1 in goals (14), assists (9), and points (37) in 71 matches.  She was a team captain her senior year, voted Conference USA Player of the Week three times, named the 2003 DePaul Outstanding Student-Athlete, and part of Conference USA Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll selection all four years.  Upon graduation, Young moved back to Fort Wayne and served as an assistant coach for two years (2004-2005) under former head coach Ken Nuber before leaving to get her graduate degree in School Counseling at Malone College in Canton, Oh., where she also coached as an assistant for one season.  The past four summers, she has served as a coach at the University of Notre Dame Girls Soccer Camp.

Whitney Patterson

Assistant Coach

Patterson was a two-year starter in midfield at USF after red-shirting one season at NCAA Division I Butler University.  Knee injuries cut short her playing career but not before she made her mark on the field.  In 2004, she earned All-MCC and All-NAIA Region VIII honors before finding a spot on the NAIA Honorable Mention All-America Team, and attaining Scholar-Athlete All-America recognition.  Patterson has been an assistant at USF since 2006, just graduating in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications.  She has also been a coach/counselor at the University of Notre Dame Girls Soccer Camp since 2004.

Natalie Wiegmann

Assistant Coach

Natalie Wiegmann returns to her roots where she is a legend in the goal mouth.  Wiegmann played for the Lady Cougars from 2000-2003 and is arguably the best keeper the school has produced.  She holds career records in shutouts (38) and saves (495).  Her primary job is training the goalkeepers, working closely with fellow assistant Stacey Rider, who holds the records that Natalie is second.  Natalie was an assistant coach at USF in 2004 and has served as the assistant coach at Snider High School.  She is also a staff coach at the University of Notre Dame Girls Soccer Camp in the summer with a USSF Goalkeeping license.

Stacey Rider

Assistant Coach

Stacey Rider, a Fort Wayne native and Northrop High School alumna, is a 2008 Nursing graduate of Saint Francis after five years of dedication to the women’s program.  With numerous All-America recognitions on and off the field, Rider works with the goalkeepers alongside assistant Natalie Wiegmann.
