INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Indianapolis Cathedral All-City golfer Abby Lauck has selected the University of Saint Francis to continue her education as well as her pursuit of golf starting in the fall of 2010.

A senior at Cathedral High School in Indianapolis, Lauck was named to the All-City team in 2008 and 2009. She helped the Irish and head coach Joe Vollmer to Indianapolis Team City championships four Abby Lauck picconsecutive years as well as four consecutive sectional championships. She was a co-medalist at Sectional finishing with a 75. Lauck helped the Irish advance to the state tournament in 2007, 2008 and 2009. In 2008 she was awarded the team mental attitude award and in 2009 was recipient of the Senior Leadership award.

She carries a 3.5 GPA at Cathedral, has been named to the Honor Roll all four years and also play three years of basketball. In her ‘spare’ time, Lauck is a member of Peer Mentoring at Cathedral and also United Way of Central Indiana.

“She led by example in her play,” Vollmer said about Lauck. “There wasn’t a single player who worked harder than she did. She said things to rally the kids. She was a very spirited, emotional player. They looked to her, and she always kept her chin up around the rest of the team. She never displayed anything but the best attitude.”

Lauck will join the USF program, under the direction of Chad LaCross, which enters the spring season ranked No. 28 in the NAIA Pre-season ratings.

“She has had an excellent high school career and I really look forward to Abby joining our program at USF as we continue to strive for greater success,” LaCross said. “She has excellent skills and will be an impact player.”
